Saturday, January 8, 2011 @ 8:51 PM This is a bit outdated (I am always very outdated when it comes to Kpop, I mean seriously, how do you even keep updated?) but I just saw the mv of DBSK's comeback with Why? (Keep Your Head Down). Before I saw this video, I thought that Homin would suck. Not really really suck, but would not be really very good compared to what DBSK was before. Because the three of them that left are, what I always thought, the best vocals out of the five of them. Yunho and Changmin are both not the 'melody', Yunho is the bass, while Changmin is the ultra high soprano. Putting the bass and a soprano together is just too weird. Furthermore, a band with only two people? What? A duet between a bass and a soprano? This is just too weird a combination. As I said, that was before I saw this video. This video rocks the socks off me dude. Sure, they still looked weird with only pathetically two people, but SM is absolutely smart, I must say. They compensated everything lost with something too cool for words. Firstly, the dance. The dance was super cool. It was awesome. It was fabulous. And they were extremely smart in the fact that they made use of Yunho's superb dancing skills, and gave him an ultimate, blow-off-my-hat solo right at the start. Matched with the catchy beat of the music, the dance totally made a great, magnificent start of the video, and took my breath away within seconds. The choreography of the dance, it was so DBSK-styled, and I must say one of the most DBSK-styled dance yet. The use of all those back-up dancers are great too. It just looked like some of the best dance performance in So you think you can dance or something. It was just so cool and... I have no words to describe it... In band, I have been doing gimmicks all my life, and I must say, band should use this video as an example for an awesome execution of gimmicks. Secondly, the use of their voice to full potential. I repeat, SM really do know how to make full use of somebody. Changmin's sexy screams were brought out over and over again, with increasing intensity. Yunho's raps increased in length as well, and also increased in coolness. To add on to that, Changmin's newly-learnt rap was also made full use of. Goodness, that 'Now I'm just chillin', Feel like I'm healin' part just literally killed me! A bass and a soprano may really sound weird, but if SM continues being so smart and use their strength to their fullest, they really really sound good. Thirdly, their hardwork. From this video, I can see how much Homin had been practicing, how hard they had worked, how much sweat they perspired in a day. Such an awesomely made video does not just come out in two or three days. Homin must have worked very hard, so as to not let down the fans, us cassies, so as to keep up with the reputation of DBSK, so as to show their fellow members out there in JYJ that DBSK still rocked. I am so proud of them. So very proud of the two of them. My heart, previously gone out to JYJ only, shared half with Homin now. My love for Changmin sprung out again. Yes, it's not Homin's fault that DBSK broke up, and they are also the victim too, but nobody ever gave them as much attention as JYJ. After so much work, I believe people should notice them now, notice the newly-arisen Gods of the East. DBSKis awesome, and always will be! Their lyrics: Keep your head down U-Know time (Max) You know what time it is? This is return of the king (Everything has ended) I didn’t even start yet (We broke up) I haven’t even heard the reason yet Everyone around me keeps asking me why I’m like this Why are you like that, why are you like that? I’m already the bad guy (If it’s a sin) If loving you was a sin (If that was a shin) If being genuine is a sin (I’ll keep it low, I’ll keep it low) I’ll hold it in and stand my ground (Keep your head down) You look pretty, but inside you’re so different, that’s what I’m afraid of (Keep your head down) I said I loved you but I’ll let you go (Why?) Did you leave me so easily (Why?) Did I look easy to you? (Why?) My heart is ripping to shreds (Why?) If every moment was a dream (Why?) If only I had the time to set it right (Why?) I prayed for your happiness I was always satisfied with having you I was happy to dream the same dream as you no matter what they said I had to let you go, but I’m just walking my path anyway Now I’m just chillin’, Feel like I’m healing It’s too late, you said you can’t come back You’ve always believed that I’d crumble without you That’s a misunderstanding, why would I do that? why, why, I told you I wouldn’t (Hey) I was really, really sad, because you were so immature and I was afraid you’d meet someone bad (Why? baby) (Keep your head down) You’re really pretty, but that’s all there is to you, there’s nothing important inside of you (Keep your head down) A nail is driven into the heart that is holding in the pain of love Ha~ Don’t play with people like that In front of me, all you do is speak of lies You’re such a two-faced person (Why why why) Since when did our crystal-like feelings become so opaque? Our love has ended, I’ve let you go, and now my heart is empty But my future is gesturing towards me to get up and smile I’m letting you go, live happily (why why why) One day far from now, far from now, I want to just smile comfortable (Why?) Why (Why?) You let go of our love so easily (Why?) Did you ever think that someone would get worried? (Why?) I don’t think you know yet (Why?) Exactly just what you let go of (Why?) Just remain there and watch me grow (Keep your head down) Erased, disappeared, you’ve burned to death in my heart (Keep your head down) Erased, disappeared, you’ve died in my heart and you no longer exist Reading the lyrics, I think it might just be dedicated to the JYJ trios. It's kind of insulting...the way I interpret it... but I think they don't mean it that way. I mean, they're not the ones writing the lyrics, it's SM company. So I think basically SM is trying to tell JYJ that they don't need them (screw them bastards!), but I think Homin is just trying to tell JYJ not to worry about them. don't worry about us, just concentrate on the lawsuit k~ Anyway, I must say that I am very very proud of Homin and JYJ. They are both awesome. Of course, DBSK has always been awesome. And even though they broke up, I think fans should not act like a spoilt child, and demand them to be back together. After watching this video, I think even if Homin and JYJ did not get back together, I still wouldn't mind. At least the full DBSK still existed before. They made their imprintment on the Earth, they left a legend on our music history. We as fans just have to remember the old DBSK, remember them forever. Yes, they broke up, but when they are still intact, they are awesome, right? So just remember them forever as an awesome band. And meanwhile, we still have to support both Homin and JYJ. We have to support every of their decision, since they are adults already, and they know what's best for them. I think it's immature and stupid to take sides. We would not be good fans if we do that. Homin hwaiting! DBSK hwaiting!!!! Labels: dbsk, koreanpop, liwei
